Old Scouts V Kettering U12's

Scouting for tries

We had our usual fantastic turnout this morning giving us two full teams to play against Old Scouts. OS had arranged a full pitch for us so we could get everybody out on the field playing as much rugby as possible.
We were expecting two well drilled Scouts teams & that is what we got. We had mixed results so as a brief breakdown I can report as follows. Both KRFC teams had good wins & tough losses today. On the positive side we matched OS both physically & skillfully. I saw some outstanding play today. Our rucking has improved from our previous games with our forward players working hard & also punching holes in the defence. Two great interception tries. Attempts at cross field kicking & chip and run. I am loving the confidence & invention in the players.
Whilst our tackling has improved we were still too high today & we paid the price. We do have some great tacklers in the squad but we need everyone to tackle around the legs. It is by far the most effective way to stop the opposition.
When play was not going our way & we were getting frustrated, We got narrow & stopped playing as a team. As we keep saying 12 individuals will never beat a team of twelve.
Overall a very impressive performance & as Nick the self appointed DOR said " we will get more out of today than a run away victory". Being challenged will only bring our game on. I have to say that for me last Wednesday's training session is by far the most impressive I have ever seen. The progression in the players ability is outstanding. Lets keep this up & who knows what we will achieve, well done everyone & thanks for your continued support.
