KRFC U13s v Stamford 02052018
Last game of the season
Kettering attended their second evening game of the season at Stamford. Kettering availability was not at its finest, mustering 12 players in total. A couple of injured players made the trip to support the blues.
With the squad so low, players had to adapt to new playing positions and we looked uncomfortable for a short time. Stamford scoring first.
Kettering readjusted and switched players around and started to look more at ease. Stamford played a lot of rugby in the Kettering half, however when Kettering attacked, it generally resulted in a score. Both teams went on to score a couple more tries however, Stamford went in at half time with a couple of scores more than Kettering.
The second half was more promising from Kettering, the defence worked hard, the midfield with its new line up(!) wasn't able to produce the attacking defence we are looking for. However, there was some heroic work to cover tackle and work hard to stop scores. Attack was good but Kettering missed some opportunities to attack with their forwards which would have made it easier for the back line. All in all, a good competitive match which was won by Stamford by a score or two.
I wasn't keeping score but when Kettering's Sam O suffered an injury that resulted in an ambulance being called I definitely wasn't checking on the result! All the best to Sam and a speedy recovery.
