Blues finish wonderful season with a 30 - 14 win at West Bridgeford!

By Peter May

The league champions concluded their title winning season with a hard fought victory and now look forward to pastures new next season!

Tries from Steve Fraher, Bruce Keir and Steve Dysel plus a perfect 100% kicking performance with 3 penalties and 3 conversions from Joe Daniel. The boys felt this one on a bone hard pitch against a side who really wanted to beat the Champions, but they dug in and made it sixteen wins on the trot and with Paviors losing at Oadby Wyggestonian eventually won the league by 11 points, fully deserving the title of League Champions 2018 - 2019.

The 2nd XV played league leaders Syston under lights on Wednesday night and just came up a point short as they lost an entertaining game 31 - 32, they finish their season next Saturday when they host Loughborough 2nds at Waverley Road, kick off 3pm.

A very young Colts side containing 11 Under 16's narrowly lost their last game of the season as they went down at home to Lutterworth 21 - 30 and what a prospect for next season as another excellent group of young men move up to the Colts.

A huge thanks to everyone concerned on the playing side at Waverley Road for a wonderful season, have a great summer and come back ready for a load of new challenges next season.
