Last season this could have been a defeat, think back to Peterborough! But the Blues are somehow different this season and pushed themselves to deliver a final effort that allowed them to come away with four points!
The victory was though marred by a serious injury to the Oadby Wyggestonian centre who suffered a very bad ankle injury which took the gloss off the victory in some ways and everyone at Kettering Rugby Club wishes him a speedy recovery!
Tries from Steve Fraher and Matt Nield plus a penalty from Joe Daniel were just enough to seal the win but the boys knew they had been in one hell of a fight and were extremely glad they had survived.
Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Club were also great hosts and we were delighted to find another club who realises what 'grass roots' rugby is all about and we look forward to welcoming them to Waverley Road in January.
Both the seconds 5 - 30 and the fourths 15 - 36 lost at home to the same opposition with the fourths game refereed by Josh May who at 16 became one of the youngest members ever to referee a Kettering Rugby Club fixture.
