Be careful what you wish for .A home match against Cambridge had seemed unlikely with Cambridge’s usual non-appearance for this fixture but turn up they did unfortunately Kettering did not for the first five minutes of the opening game and were two down before they knew what had hit them . Ketts did wake up but spent the rest of the match on the back foot but the effort not to concede a third should be commended Sam Lloyds last gasp tackling once again proving crucial.
Game two proved more difficult, but small signs of encouragement from some of our newer boys and Jake Lewington scoring an unbelievable solo try gave the home side something to cheer in a 3-1 defeat.
Sometimes you just have to admit you have been beaten by a better side team and this was one of those days .Cambridge were impressive throughout their team but the interplay in midfield really stood out. Overall a big improvement on last week’s performance but even more needed to take into Old Saints Festival.
